Advisory Board

The Advisory Board shall meet at least twice a year to assist with the planning and implementation of the 1967 Legacy Program. Members are expected to have an active role by:

  • selecting candidates during the 1967 Legacy Scholar Interview Day.
  • selecting 1967 Legacy Projects.
  • approving annual program budget.

A record of Advisory Board meetings and related activities are expected to be archived for future reference. The advisory board is chaired by a member of the Office of Institutional Diversity.

Meet the Advisory Board

valerie frazier

Valerie Frazier, Ph.D.

Director 

Valerie Frazier is an Associate Professor of English at the College of Charleston, where she teaches African American, multicultural and American literatures. She has an established history of advocacy for  African American Studies and Ethnic American Studies at this institution. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Georgia and M.P.A. from the College of Charleston and University of South Carolina. Her research centers on contemporary African American, ethnic, and women’s literature.
